On May 13th at UBS office, IE Alumni Chapter in Zurich successfully hosted an alumni-gathering event. But this time the organizer Patrick Kramer, IE Master in Digital Marketing & Communication 2010 and Isabella Grandi, IE International MBA 2008 intended it to also be a brainteaser and knowledge-sharing platform. Of course when IE Alumni gather there would always be tasty cocktails involved but this time they started with two insightful presentations. The first presenter was Eric Schwaninger. Eric is a Senior Accountant Manager at Google in Zurich. He shared with us how Google drives digital innovations. He explained Google’s products such as Google Maps, Google AdWords and how it has affected us on a global scale. Furthermore, Eric gave insights into what it’s like working for Google and how the corporate culture operates. It is very interesting to hear how Google, with its informal business culture and a flat hierarchy structure, is considered one of the most desirable corporate cultures for working individuals around the world. Michaela Götze, Master in Digital Advertising & Communication 2009 was the second presenter. Michaela is currently the Senior Marketing Manager at Migros; Switzerland’s largest retail company. Michaela shared with us her latest successful Easter Bunny campaign that took Switzerland by storm and received an overwhelming response from the Swiss. Her key takeaway is when it comes to planning and executing a marketing campaign in Switzerland you will always be surprised by the result. A very simple idea of submitting a picture of an Easter Bunny could transform into your most successful campaign of the year. Once the presentation was over, everybody moved to a nice bar just around the corner and stayed for a networking event. As I mentioned before, great cocktails are always part of the game and the best part of it was that it was sponsored by the IE Alumni Department. We would like to thank our organizers Patrick and Isabella, the presenters Eric and Michaela, as well as everybody who was involved in the event. Thank you for allocating your time to reconnect. We hope that this cool initiative will also be an inspiration to all IE Alumni Chapters worldwide.
