The inaugural Madrid MiM Games was held last weekend, and it is fair to say that the event was a huge success. Over the weekend, the school played host to a number of competitors from schools across Europe and both the Spanish and English sections here at IE.
Some of the sports included, basketball, archery, salsa dancing and volleyball, the setting for which was ideal as Madrid stayed true to its reputation and showered the participants in sun all weekend.
Thereafter though, the competition really kicked off and the competitors were released upon the nightlife of Madrid as the organisers had set up a different themed event for each night of the weekend.
It is a delight to see that the event has been such a success, and it is important to note the impact that hosting such events has for both the students participating and IE. Time away from the classroom, competing for and representing your school, is just as important and integral to the IE experience as the academics, and it is this message that the MiM games is attempting to spread.
Networking, competition, and of course, fun, are the three key components that have driven the success of the games in its first year, and it is certain that next year will be as much of a success as this if these pillars of success are followed once more.
Thanks to all that participated, the organisers, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
