In April IE Russia partnered with Changellenge – the biggest business case competition provider in the country. IE supported Cup Technical – case championship for students with technical, IT or quantitative background, where more than 1500 students from leading Russian universities took part.
The championship consisted of 3 rounds. The first one was held online and students were required to present their solutions to the case in the format of power point presentation. Semi-final and final rounds were organized face to face: in the semi-final participants were required to do an elevator pitch of their solution; in the final they did 15 minute presentation followed by Q&A. There were 2 sections in the championship: engineering and oil&gas. First round cases were based on situations faced by Mars, Incorporated and Lukoil (leading Russian oil company); in the semi-final and the final rounds students worked on the same case: another problem from Mars, Incorporated for engineers and Gazprom case for oil&gas section.
Apart from IE, among partners of the championship were companies such as Gazprom, Lukoil, Mars Incorporated, EY, KPMG, Strategy Partners. Employees of these companies comprised the jury panels. IE was represented by Tetyana Kretova (country director for Russia), Victoria Susakova (country coordinator for Russia), Alexander Kazakov (MIM 2012 alumni) and Denis Borzunov (IMBA 2013 alumni).
The jury was impressed by the quality and depth of the solutions presented. Being an exclusive educational partner, IE granted to the finalists two scholarships to cover a portion of tuition fees for IE’s brand new Master in Business Analytics & Big Data program.
IE has been a partner with Changellenge for several years now and has always found very strong candidates amongst its participants. We hope to see some of these outstanding students in the upcoming intakes of our master programs.
