February 17-19, 2014 IE Russia had few busy, however, absolutely exciting days devoted to careers. Amber Wigmore, IE´s Executive Director of Career Services came for a visit to meet with selected companies and Alumni.
After productive meetings on employment and internships agreements with Big 4 and Big 5 as well as well-known Russian banks, energy and pharmaceutical companies, the highlight of the whole trip for sure has been the evening talk show devoted to Careers.
Over 40 Alumni, current students and prospects gathered at the Commercial Department of the Spanish Embassy for the panel discussion named ¨True or False. Growing career after the MBA¨.
Amber shared the significant changes that Career Services has undergone brining up a number of new opportunities for Alumni, for instance, a full day job bank access and work at Career Center at partner schools such as INSEAD and LBS. Alumni also learnt the tips on successful career search.
Luc Jones, the partner of one of the largest recruitment firms in Russia, Antal, continued with an inspiring and full of excellent examples and humour story on the Russian labour market. As an author of the book ¨Why Russians do not smile¨ he shared key highlights on the cultural differences he’s observed within his 20+ years of working and living in the country. Luc left the audience with quite some tips on what to do and what not to do during the job search and interviewing process.
At the end, Mikhail Kuznetsov, GXMBA Alumni finished the meeting with an impressive presentation on opportunities existing in Russia for top management, namely how to become a part-time Board member. As the President of the Corporate Directors Association and 4 times part-time Board member he shared the situation with corporate governance in Russia.
The meeting finalised with a networking cocktail.
More to come. Next time to Ukraine!
