It has been a big year at the IE Germany office.
We’ve organised events, found new students, visited many a fair, strengthened the alumni network and got the word out about IE.
Through all the fairs that we’ve visited both Vanessa de Gruyter and myself are now very familiar with Germany and its many beautiful cities; we’ve seen Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Münster, Leipzig, Würzburg, Stuttgart, Hannover and Bielefeld. That’s right, Bielefeld, it really does exist.
Max Oliva joined me in the aforementioned Bielefeld for the AIESEC Youth to Business Forum where we met lots of incredible students who all seem to have very definite plans for world domination or to at the very least take the business world by storm. In this infectiously positive atmosphere Max Oliva’s interactive presentation on innovation fit right in.
Professor Ignacio de la Torre visited us in both Frankfurt and Munich to hold Finance Master Classes where he helped us understand our current financial state by examining the past. Professor Eduardo Fernandez-Cantelli also held a Master Class in Munich and spoke about Nike and Adidas and the different communication strategies that they use.
September saw fifty IE alumni descend on Oktoberfest for beer, pretzels, and lots of fun. We all got dressed up in our Bavarian finery and were not out of place amongst the sea of dirndls and lederhosen in the Armbrustschützenzelt tent.
We have met many wonderful prospective students who are now beginning their IE experience and have had their potential infinitely increased by becoming students at IE.
All in all we’ve had a great year and if 2012 is anything to go by then 2013 is going to be fantastic.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
