Berlin, which could not compete for many years with other “hotspots” in Germany to do business and bring talent into the job market, is now the new place for entrepreneurs, especially for innovative new technology start-up companies with a “global vision” on doing business.
In fact the city is already the most important hub for gaming, e-commerce and other hi-tech firms in Germany and is increasingly seen as a rival to London and even Silicon Valley in terms of the number of start-ups.
Recently the Berlin Chamber of Commerce announced that around 1,300 Internet start-ups have been founded in the city since 2008, of which almost 500 were established last year alone. This number is expected to even increase due to “Plan Deutschland Digital 2015”, which will create around 30.000 additional jobs in the “digital” world the next years. Success stories from the past like music platform SoundCloud, Groupon, E-Darling, Rocket Internet, Wooga amongst many others, which all have settled down in Berlin, push the rush of new “start-ups” even more!
What makes Berlin so attractive for entrepreneurs is mainly a good infrastructure to find cheap & attractive office space as also a very powerful start-up scene with plenty of networking and community support from skilled & multilingual people from all over the world.
